Southern Worcester County
The Highland Street Ambassador of Mentoring
The Ambassador to Southern Worcester County will have complete ownership of building a partnership with the YMCA in Webster having 10 mentees, recruiting 30 mentors from Nichols College in Dudley, and adding 20 additional mentoring relationships to our program in Southbridge.  Southbridge and Webster are high needs communities and the AOM will greatly increase BBBS CM/MW’s capacity to run successful program in Southern Worcester County. These efforts will be essential to BBBS CM/MW success in those communities. It will help us to reach our vision of providing mentors to children who are facing adversity throughout our 40 community service area.

Americorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship
The program that this Fellow will be supporting is a middle school based “college possible” mentoring program. It is combination of a 1:1 mentoring program where middle school youth work with a college student from two local area colleges for 1-2 hour per week. This program also provides group enrichment focusing on 21st Century skills that will give the youth tools to succeed in College and throughout life. The MPF Fellow will be responsible for hosting parent/youth support nights to encourage family discussions around college and furthering education.

The Highland Street Ambassador of Mentoring
The Ambassador of Mentoring will lead Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central MA/Metrowest in its recruitment effort of diverse volunteers and work with each department on capacity building projects. This will allow us to serve more children in the high needs areas that we serve. The overall project will evaluate and expand the capacity of our programs by working with and supporting the program directors after a needs assessment is completed. Working to establish a yearlong recruitment plan is a priority for our Agency so we can serve more youth each year.
