Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass/Metrowest honored with national prize given to only 5% of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America affiliates this year.

WORCESTER & FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (April 21, 2016) - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass/Metrowest (BBBS of Central Mass/Metrowest) has been awarded the Gold Standard Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). The purpose of the Gold Standard Award is to recognize affiliate agencies who performed the best in providing high-quality mentoring programs for children and volunteers alike. The award also recognizes outstanding fundraising and financial performance by organizations in sustaining its operations.

There are over 314 affiliate agencies within the national network of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and this year, the Gold Standard Award will be presented to only 17 agencies. Award recipients are selected based on meeting and exceeding national goals set by BBBSA in the categories of fundraising, total number of children served, program retention rates, consistently enhanced support of mentors and children, and increased scope of services.

"I am extremely proud of our organization for achieving this great honor as a 2015 Gold Standard Award winner," said Daniel Mastrototaro, chairman of the board of directors at BBBS of Central Massachusetts and vice president of business development at The Hanover Insurance Group. "We truly owe this recognition to all of those who help make this agency a reality - from our generous and engaged group of charitable donors, to our dedicated group of employees and staff and our committed and loyal volunteers who are the heart and soul of this organization. Our future is bright and, while we still have work to do, I continue to be excited by what we can achieve for our community when we partner together to make a difference."

"This is an incredible honor that acknowledges the hard work of all of our members: our dedicated Board of Directors, our enthusiastic Board of Corporators, our tireless staff members, and most of all, our volunteer mentors," said Jeffrey Chin, Chief Executive Officer of BBBS of Central Mass/Metrowest. "It is so fitting and perfectly appropriate that this announcement is made during National Volunteer Month; we certainly would not have been eligible for this honor without the incredible work and dedication of our volunteer mentors."

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass/ Metrowest will celebrate this award at its annual spring fundraiser "The Big Celebration: Viva Las Vegas" on Friday, May 13th at Skybokx 109 in Natick. The event will celebrate the success of the organization's various mentoring programs while raising funds to ensure high-quality programs are sustained for years to come.

The award will be formally presented to Mr. Chin and other representatives of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass/ Metrowest at the Big Brothers Big Sisters National Conference in Orlando, Florida in June. For additional information, contact Jackie Lyon at 508-752-7868.
