September 2021 Hello Friends, September is a season of change. Change in weather, change in schedules, and change in colors. We are welcoming all that change with open arms here at BBBS! We're excited to see what the Fall season has in store for us as we begin making new matches and be a resource for our existing matches. A major change that we're excited to announce is the hiring of our new CEO, Connie Askin. Connie earned an MBA from Olin Graduate School of Business and spent her undergrad years at Harvard University. She has held senior level positions in both business and non-profit organizations, including City Year and Year Up. Connie said “The past year and a half has been so challenging for children and families. As a relentless believer in silver-linings, I am excited to be part of a team that is actively helping alleviate some of that stress by matching caring adults and children in our communities who will benefit from this kind of actionable optimism.” Beginning this Fall, we are partnering with the Mental Health Collaborative for a brand new mental health literacy program. The virtual program will be brought to Bigs, Littles, Parents/Guaridans, and our Staff. Mental health can be a very serious and sometimes even scary topic, but after completing MHC programming, participants have reported feeling less afraid and actually empowered by their new knowledge. MHC has even created a virtual series of programs for Bigs and Littles to do together that will foster greater openness and connection with each other. More information will be available later this Fall. Thank you for your continued support! Sincerely, The Team at Big Brothers Big Sisters | |
